![]() Easter is almost upon us (No, I can’t believe this, either), which means more than simply newborn lambs, chirping chicks and flowering buds. Yes yes, all nice things, I agree. But there’s more to this time of year if you're an author. That’s because, it’s NestPitch time! If you don’t know what this is, then in an eggshell (continuing the Easter theme) it’s a writing contest; a chance to work with a mentor and their story master team mates and get your book noticed by the magical beings known as, literary agents. Yes! Exciting, right? The submission window opens on April 1st, which isn’t far off now. If you have a polished manuscript in any category and genre (but sorry, no picture books this time) then definitely visit organiser, Nik Vukoja’s blog here for the finer details. This year, I am delighted to be involved, and making up one third of Team Sugar Rush! aka, the winning team. We are mentor, Louise Gornall, me (obviously) and my talented fellow reader Sarah Carlson. A team that is too good to be true, you might say. I would agree. But seriously, this is not an illusion; we are real. Together we’re going to pick the BEST entries in the slush pile, we’re going to make those books sing like Celine Dion, and we’re going to make agents beg to read more and represent these authors. Piece of Easter cake. (Yes, please.) So step aside all you other NestPitch teams, there can only be one triumphant team – and that’s us! Find and follow #TeamSugarRush on Twitter and see just how smawesome we actually are. (Actually, there can be more than one team that wins. Well, all the teams can. I'm just a teeny tiny bit competitive.) (And, actually, there are no guarantees agents will want to represent these authors, but Team Sugar Rush will be working their butts off to make this happen!)
