I am delighted to be the next stop on the book release blog tour for FROSH 2: Second Chances by the gorgeous Monica B. Wagner. A while back, I bought and read FROSH 1 - and, of course, fell in love. And after such a painful cliff hanger at the end of the book, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on an ARC of FROSH 2! That's the cover for book 1, by the way! So, Ellie, Grant, Devon and Charlie are back - and the sequel does not disappoint. It's as fresh, fun, and risky as the first, and I freaking loved it. 5 STARS all the way! Boy, are things about to get complicated! Arriving back to the warzone that is Hillson, Ellie is ready to make things right—not just with Grant, but with the entire football team. But heck, what she hopes has blown over has in fact blown up like a nuclear bomb, making the shit truly hit the fan. Now the target of unwanted attention, Ellie’s got to seriously rethink every next step she takes. Grant’s got a lot of personal stuff to sort out—without football, he needs to prove that he can find passion and excel elsewhere. But with Ellie on his mind day in day out, smoothing things over with her first is paramount. As usual, this will definitely not be straight forward, particularly with what Ellie’s planning for her future. Devon’s happy, in love. For a bitch like her, those feelings don’t come easy, but adorkable Charlie is the drug on which she’s hooked—unlike her addict brother. So the next steps in their relationship can only be taking Charlie home to meet Mom; but, of course, Devon’s nerd just isn’t good enough for Mom. Although there is one way to win her approval even if it does involve some foul play. Charlie’s dream relationship doesn’t seem so dreamy after all. Maybe he and Devon just aren’t meant to be; two polar opposite upbringings can never work. But aside from his love life, Charlie’s entire perfect bubble is about to burst, and getting to the bottom of all the lies, betrayal, and revelations is going to be tough. What I love most about FROSH, 1 and 2, is not only the simplistic writing style and great characterisation, but Wagner’s ability to build up and layer each of these character’s lives, ensuring their stories all intertwine, creating, quite honestly, a complex and frustrating mess that means I, not only want to, but have to keep reading. Until the last pages you just don’t know how things will conclude, how the characters will claw their way back, or what disaster is going to strike next. It’s clever, and makes for addictive reading. Although in FROSH 1, I found Ellie and Grant’s roles to be more engaging, I actually connected with Devon and Charlie in FROSH 2, and their situation was quite heart-wrenching. I couldn’t help but sit slightly more in Charlie’s camp, but Devon’s a character I really hate to love. Such a bitch, but the actions she takes are driven, deep down, by a spark of good in her heart. And wow, Wagner deals us another horrible, evil, knife-twisting cliff-hanger to end with! I cannot wait for FROSH 3. These books are so fresh and engaging, with gorgeous romance, steamy sex scenes, complex storylines, and vivid and real characterisation. An absolute must read, in my opinion. Mónica was born in a Peruvian city by a snow-capped volcano. Growing up, books were her constant companions as she traveled with her family to places like India (where she became a vegetarian), Thailand (where she *almost* met Leonardo di Caprio), France (where she pretended to learn French), and countless other places that inspired her to write. Now, Mónica lives in Chile with her husband, three boys, eleven hens, and stray dog. Keep up with Monica and follow her on Twitter @Monica_BW or visit her website: http://monibw.blogspot.com.
