It is with great pleasure that I join my beautiful friend Sharon M. Johnston in revealing the gorgeous cover of her upcoming novel, Divided!

Picture

A new heart should mean new life, instead it’s a living nightmare.

Mishca Richardson’s life is at an all-time high after her heart transplant. With new

boyfriend, Ryder, she has the perfect summer romance. Even the nightmares

plaguing her sleep since her operation can’t dull her new dream world.

Yet, life starts to unravel when Mishca develops superhuman abilities. She does her

best to hide them so as not to end up a science experiment in a lab, but she can’t

ignore the strange instant attraction she experiences when she meets her university

professor, Colin Reed.

Torn between love and obsession, Mishca must unite her divided heart and decide

between the two men. But when the truth about her weird powers comes to light,

she’ll have a lot more to worry about than romance.

Praise for Divided

“DIVIDED is a fast-paced adventure filled with mystery, romance, action, and humor.
Mishca and Ryder rank up there with my favorite heroines and heroes ever!
Sharon M. Johnston is an author to watch out for.”

- WENDY HIGGINS, USA Today and New York Times bestselling author.

About the Author:

Gina has fly-away hair that has always done its own thing, doesn’t feel as old as she looks, owns three children (aged 2, 5 and 7) who can’t be tamed, and writes in spare–stolen–time. As well as her release of ‘What You Wish For’, published by Three Worlds Press, Gina is also working with Decadent Publishing for her books  ‘Her Dollmaker’s Desire’ and ‘Her Undercover Christmas’,  but she is always brimming with further ideas and is willing to invest money in the first person who is able to add extra hours to a day.

Excerpt:

His mouth twisted into a self-deprecating smile and he brushed his thumb across my cheek. I almost closed my eyes at the calm his touch brought me. I ached to rest my cheek in his palm, to let him soothe me. His hand fell away and I mourned the loss of contact, the loss of part of myself to want and wishes. I felt myself splitting, fracturing, dividing right there, and glanced at Will to see if he

He looked at me, eyes sharp and focused, and the weight of his hand pressed on my thigh through the blankets. “Have you ever done that thing where you drop something, hear it hit the ground, and when you search for it, it’s gone? You might give up after five minutes, or search intermittently for years, but it doesn’t matter. You won’t find it. It’s not there anymore. It’s sort of…gone…beyond what you can see. It’s as if it has slipped through the cracks into somewhere else. Because things don’t just vanish, right? They must go somewhere…so, somewhere else must exist…and, now, you’re here instead of there.”

He narrowed his eyes as if in thought and I fought the urge to touch the tiny lines where his skin crinkled at the corners, to smooth them for him.

“You know, I think I dropped something once.” His voice emerged so quietly I barely heard him.

He met my gaze, and gave me a lop-sided grin. “To put it more crudely, I’m guessing I’m not the man you went to bed with, and you are definitely not the Maggie I fell asleep next to.”

His words jolted me, and I wrapped my arms over my waist.

“I’m not going crazy.” The last lament of a crazy woman. “This can only be a dream. Only a dream. Otherwise, I am crazy. Only a dream. Please?”

He shook his head, his smile sad. “Is that what you want, Maggie? For me to be a dream? To wake up?”

Before I even formed a thought, I shook my head. I didn’t want that.

Release Date: September 2015

Champagne Book Group

Morgan McRobbie will do anything to protect the kingdom of Kilbourne.

Even betray it.

When Morgan rescues a damsel-in-distress from an errant dragon, he expects she’ll swoon, murmuring “My hero!” Instead, Marissa has only loathing for the man everyone believes will betray Kilbourne. That’s fine with Morgan. A woman in his life would just complicate things.

A high-level informer threatens the kingdom’s security, and Morgan is out to stop him. Posing as a turncoat himself, he walks a fine line between honor and betrayal. A single misstep could result in disaster, and his mission is fraught with distractions: the pesky dragon, a pair of conniving courtiers, a surfeit of spies, and the disillusioned damsel who’s certain Morgan can’t be trusted.

If Morgan’s going to save the kingdom, win the girl, and manage to stay alive, he’ll need to step up his game. Because the traitor is lurking in the shadows, and his scheme calls not just for the betrayal of Kilbourne, but also the destruction of Morgan McRobbie.

Astro and Alfie Take Over!

Today, I'm delighted to have fabulous Australian author Susan Day on the blog...well, actually, that's new entirely true. I actually have two dogs on the blog! I know!

Please welcome Astro and...

Picture

Alfie!
Picture
“Astro, where are we?”

“I’m not sure; it feels like we are in a blog.”

“A bog?”

“No, a blog!”

“What’s a blog?!”

“Listen, Alfie, if I have to tell you again I’ll go crazy!”

“Like when you went crazy and tore off the door and saved that poor dog? Then we ended up saving all the dogs from the Check Out.”

“Well, maybe not that crazy but... Hey, that was fun wasn’t it? The Check Out sure is a nasty place.”

“Well, it’s where cruel people send their dogs to be “checked out’.”

“I know and it’s often not the poor dog’s fault. Some dogs just bark because they are lonely.”

“Yeah, and others dig holes because they are bored.”

“Well, it’s a good job our scribe, Susan Day, wrote it all down and called it The Great Escape, Alfie.”

“That was your first adventure with us, wasn’t it, Astro?”

“It sure was! And how many have we had since then?”

“Well, there was The Golden Treasure; Rampaging Rats; Major Dakota’s Ghost and... well lots!”

“It’s a good job, Susan Day, writes them all down or I’d probably forget about them if she didn’t.”

“How could you forget when we were sent into space to replace the moon in Dogs in Space, Alfie?”

“Oh, yeah, I couldn’t forget that. After all, it was me that saved the day!”

“Only because you farted so much you turned the spaceship around.”

“Well, what can I say... it’s a gift!”

“Alfie, being smelly is not a gift - it’s gross!”

“Indy uses my stinky armpits to create her stink bombs; she doesn’t think I’m gross!”

“Well, I suppose you’ve got a point. Those stink bombs have certainly saved us a few times. Do you remember when she finished off the evil genius in The Haunted Circus?”

“That was funny. Will that wicked cat ever learn?!”

“Probably not! Hey, we better get going, Alfie. I can hear Commander Rocky. He’s barking something about a new mission.”

“Another one, Astro? We were just in China to deliver a baby dragon to the Imperial Palace!”

“I know, Susan’s already called that one Waking the Dragon. But our work never stops, Alfie, you should know that. We are called on every day to save dogs from neglect – that’s what we do.”

“And lions, Astro.”

“And we saved Neptune’s Trident, too!”

“Oh, and don’t forget we saved Christmas – not once but twice!”

“Well, the second time was sort of our fault, Alfie, can you remember how cross Santa Claus was?”

“Oh, don’t remind me!”

“Let’s go. I’m sure our next adventure will be dangerous, mysterious and strange, just like all the others.”

“I can’t wait!”

“Me neither, my friend, me neither.”

Thanks guys!

And, as it's only polite, here's a little about Astro and Alfie's creator!

Oh yes! It's a very special day as I get to share with you all the cover for Touching Fate, the almighty, magnificent Brenda Drake's second novel! So cool. Check it out!

Touching Fate
by Brenda Drake
Release Date: 10/13/15
Entangled Teen: Crave

Summary from Goodreads:
Aster Layne believes in physics, not psychics. A tarot card reading on the Ocean City Boardwalk should have been a ridiculous, just-for-fun thing. It wasn't. Aster discovers she has a veryunscientific gift—with a simple touch of the cards, she can change a person's fate.

Reese Van Buren is cursed. Like the kind of old-school, centuries-old curse that runs in royal families. Every firstborn son is doomed to die on his eighteenth birthday—and Reese's is coming up fast. Bummer. He tries to distract himself from his inevitable death...only to find the one person who can save him.

Aster doesn't know that the hot Dutch guy she's just met needs her help–or that he’s about to die.

But worst of all…she doesn't know that her new gift comes with dark, dark consequences that can harm everyone she loves.

About the Author
Brenda Drake, the youngest of three children, grew up an Air Force brat and the continual new kid at schooluntil her family settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brenda’s fondest memories growing up is of hereccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was onlyfitting that she would choose to write young adult and middle grade novels with a bend toward thefantastical. When Brenda’s not writing or doing the social media thing, she’s haunting libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops or reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).

I'm super excited to celebrate with fellow writer Monica B. Wagner on the big cover reveal of her upcoming novel FROSH: First Blush!

Take a look at all this gorgeousness!

Picture

And here's a cheeky look at the blurb!

FROSH: First Blush

During welcome week at Hillson University, the FROSH will hit the fan.

Type-A aspiring journalist Ellie plans to take freshman year by storm. But hell-bent on breaking a huge on-campus scandal, she risks becoming one herself—and getting the mysterious, heart-melting QB in serious trouble.

Grant, star quarterback and charismatic chick-magnet, is hiding a life-altering secret. The last thing he needs is an overeager (absolutely adorable) journalist asking questions. He’s got a reputation to protect.

High-society legacy student Devon is ready to catch the football hottie of her dreams. If the tabloids feature her with the “it” boy on her arm, her tainted past will be buried—or so she thinks.

Charlie, pre-med, is done being the sweet and funny geek that girls like Devon ignore. But if he tries to impress her with a new edgy, spontaneous attitude, will his heart end up in the emergency room?

FROSH intertwines the stories of Ellie, Grant, Devon, and Charlie in Mónica B. Wagner’s sexy NA debut series, about falling in love and falling apart.

Sounds amazing!

And here's a little bit about Monica
.
Picture
Mónica was born in a Peruvian city by a snow-capped volcano. Growing up, books were her constant companion as she traveled with her family to places like India (where she became a vegetarian), Thailand (where she *almost* met Leonardo di Caprio), France (where she pretended to learn French), and countless other places that inspired her to write. Now, Mónica lives in Chile with her husband, three boys, eleven hens, and stray dog.

So what more do you need to know before you get ready to buy this book? Nothing! So go follow Monica and get ready for the book's launch!

Good luck, Monica!

PITCH WARS MENTOR BLOG HOP!

1/8/2015

And this year I'm mentoring MG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture
Picture
The question is, why should YOU, the future upcoming talent, submit to ME, the who-are-you-again author / editor?

I'll tell you. In fact, as all great authors do, I'll SHOW you.

Picture
That's right, you, my chosen mentee, and I will become besties. We'll hold hands, swap last Rolos, have movie nights and tear-filled pep-talks, and become life-long friends. Oh, and we'll do a bit of writing if we have time.

Who wouldn't want this? NO ONE.

But you see, I'm an author and I've been on the other side of the divider. My debut - Winell Road: Beneath the Surface - has dipped its toe in many a slushy puddle, been through many a revision, and been smashed with the subjectivity bat over and over. I UNDERSTAND HOW IT FEELS. And just because I'm now published, doesn't mean these experiences go away. They don't.

Your book is precious; I know this. It needs respect and a tender touch. Luckily, I have large supplies of these in my bag.

I'm also a freelance editor and super proud of all the authors I've worked with, and I will never give up on any of them, not until they've reached their goals. And for those that have, I'm their number one fan. Ask them. I'm in it for the long haul.

To top it off, I was also a slushie for NestPitch, another writing and pitching contest, and got to work with the incredible Michelle Barry (you should click here and go follow her) on her MG sci-fi retelling, Moongarden. Since then, she has signed with Peter Knapp at New Leaf Literary Agency in New York! You see, I know MG!

Next question: what do I wanna see in my inbox? I'll tell you.

I don't particularly have a favourite genre. I will and do read pretty much everything. However, I've currently had my fill of sad, heart wrenching tales about kids whose parents have died or whose siblings are ill or whose pets are on their last legs, and so on. I'm at a place in my life where sadness isn't all that welcome. More than anything else, though, definitely not a sad ending – ABSOLUTE NO NO for me. And anyway, it's mid-grade; give those kids some happy feels.

But saying that, if your book does include the odd sniffle-snuffle, is unique, and you're 100% sure it will blow my mind, be sure to send it my way. Just warn me to get out the box of Kleenex. Three of my most favourite books ever are The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and Skellig by David Almond. Masterpieces that break me every time with their emotional beauty.

I do tend to lean toward novels with a bit of humour and / or a dark, disturbing nightmarish side. My favourite book of all time is The Uninvited by Liz Jensen. Yes, OK, it's an adult book, but it's one disturbing read. And, tossing stupid old trends out of the window, I love zombies and portal fantasies. But again, your novel has got to be unique. A completely squeaky new approach in telling the flesh-eating, vortex-hopping stories, otherwise Houston, we have a problem.

Picture

So, on a scale of 'take a peep' 'happily read' 'gimme' and 'grabby hands', here's a quick run down.

Sci-fi – grabby hands
Fantasy – grabby hands
Contemporary – happily read
Horror – grabby hands
Historical – take a peep
Paranormal – gimme
Fairy-tale / retellings – happily read
Mystery – gimme
Action / Adventure – gimme
Humourous – grabby hands

So there you go.

And for every author who submits but I don't choose, I promise to offer some feedback - might not be straight away, but I will give you my tuppence worth, nonetheless.

If you want to ask me any questions about my tastes, or want to know anything else about me to help you decide whether you should submit to me or not, just pop a question in the comments below, and I'll answer as best I can!

Now, submit to me, and let the magic commence.
